Meanwhile.... [FATE]

[Ryan]

Slowly fading in and out of sleep, Ryan takes his first glance at the top of his tent. Pulling himself up he glances around the small shelter for his watch, he finds it in his bag where he left it. He looks at the sliver hands and groans.
"It's only nine"
He digs around in his bag and pulls out a slice of bread and begins to chew, It's cold and slightly stale. As he eats he continues to dig in his bag and pulls out a Pokeball. Ryan Presses the center of it and with a loud "Pop" his Nidoran appears to his side. It looks around as if it had just woken up and starts to dig at the bottom of the tent. Ryan tears a bit of his bread and nudges it toward the pokemon's head. The Nidoran sniffs the bread and with a swift motion takes it and hops to a corner to eat it in silence.
"You never were the most social bugger were you?"
Needles looks at him and hops over to the front of the tent and scratches at it. Knowing this sign all too well Ryan crawls over to the front, his sleeping bag falling to his knees, and unzips the tent. As if someone hit a switch Ryan could hear all the sounds of the forest at once. The air was cold and moist, and he could see a Metapod hanging from a tree. He yanks his shoes on and takes a few steps outside his tent, his pokemon follows him. After a few seconds of standing outside he thinks to himself
"I should get something done today"
Ryan packs up his tent, grabs his things and heads towards Viridian City to see just how much he could get done.

Walking through the trees Ryan comes to an intersection, one path leading to viridian city an the other leading deeper into the forest. Making his decision beforehand he takes the path that leads to Viridian city. But strangely enough he see's a kid walking back, the kid says

"Don't bother, the road is closed"

Hearing this Ryan is confused, he wanted to know why the road was closed. Sticking his chest out he walks the path. The road is made of dirt, and is some places slightly muddy. As he looks around he can see the overhanging trees blocking out the majority of the sun. In the distance he can see the roadblock. As he approaches the blockade, a few men approach him.

"The road is closed kid"

Ryan asks

"But why is it closed? It's a road."

The one of the men say that the rain washed out the road and it's unsafe for use, but when Ryan looked around them he could see that the road was unsafe, but it wasent washed out. Infact, it looked like something really fast hit the ground, really hard. Nevertheless Ryan turned around and walked back the way he came, as he did he questioned what the "R" on the men's chests stood for.

After about two hours, four falls, and a mishap with a trainer. Ryan finally made it to the city. Its a small one thats not very big, but it's a city nevertheless. Ryan walks up to the nearest Pokemon center and gives Needles a rest, granted he doeset need it since Ryan tried to avoid all the trainers that might challenge him. After a short wait he thanks the nurce and heads out, but before he walks out the door he over hears two adults murmuring amongst themselves.

"Yea its really strong...... You're not allowed in if you don't have all the badges..... Because its so powerful..... It might be a pokemon..... Not sure....yea.... Large bounty.....A cave...... Cerulean city"

Hearing this Ryan could make out the there was something really powerful near cerulean that could get him a lot of cash, and to him, cash is cash regardless of where it comes from right? Ryan now knows what he wants to do. Find out whatever that "Thing" is, capture it, get the cash, and stop living in a tent.

"But where do I start?"
He thinks to himself.

Ryan stands there pondering what he should do next. Should he prepare? If he does what should he bring? He should have something to heal Needles in he needs it. But is Needles ready? Is he strong enough to face whatever that thing is? Other questions fly in and out of his mind until he remembers, he wont let him in unless he has all the badges. To him, it sounds like a good place to start, it'll get him some cash, and it will make Needles stronger. Ryan reaches down and grabs the one Pokeball on the belt. Touches the center of it and with a pop and red light his purple Pokemon appears. Needles looks up, around, and then down. He starts to dig at the ground and sniff around. Ryan kneels down and looks at Needles

"Hey man, i've got this idea. Okay hear me out, theres this thing right? And its really strong, and if we can detain it we can get lots of money"

Needles is looking at him, with a confused look on its face

"Yea we're going to have to take the gym challenge and beat all eight leaders. It'll give us some money for food, and it'll make you stronger"

Needles looks around again and sits in the dirt where he was standing. Ryan sighs and says

"I dont think we're going to be able to do this alone, we're gonna need some help"

Knowing that no matter how strong Needles is going to get he's going to have some type disadvantages somewhere. The closest place to get pokemon, is back in the forest
Ryan walks back where he was and walks into the forest to search for some help.

It was hard living out in the forest. It made some Pokemon tougher than others, or the ones that had been raised by breeders. Pidgey had wandered around for a while after its mother made the siblings leave the nest. He hadn't seen much of his brothers or sisters since he had left a little early, but he was a tough little Pidgey. He heard footsteps coming close and stepped out on the path to investigate. He saw a boy and his Pokemon. It looked like one of those Breeder-raised Pokemon. He utterly despised those kinds. They were soft and easy to beat. He'd done it a few times before, and he would do it again. It was a level 4 and a brave Pidgey. He called out a warning to the duo, that he intended to battle.

[Ryan]

Walking with Needles Ryan heard something like a screech. He looked around and saw a pidgey staring straight at him with intent in its eyes. Ryan looked at Needles
"Its always good to have a flying type around isent it?"
Needles looked confused, but he turned his head toward the bird and as if something clicked in his head he jumped into position, waiting for his owner to tell him what to do. Since this was Ryan's first battle he wasent sure what to do at the start, but he had a feeling in the back of his head that he should call out a move
"Needles use Peck!"

I can see that you rolled an eight. As per the guidebook for battles (I.3.), when battling a wild Pokemon, you roll the dice to see who makes the first move.
You can do so by using the dice button twice when replying or the HTML code [*roll][*roll] (minus the asteriks**).

If you roll a six or below, you go first. If you roll above a six, the wild Pokemon goes first.

Once this is fixed, this thread may proceed.
