Indiana smiled and nodded. They should go ahead and get that Pokedex before he runs into any more Pokemon. It's almost a cheat sheet, the Pokedex. Some people don't use them, they view them as weak. They remember all the Pokemon, their abilities, and they have no way of knowing how powerful they are until they start the battle. It's a foolish thing to do, put yourself in that situation, and your Pokemon too!
"Oh! Hey, Josh, do you remember Nanie?" She grinned thinking about her Ivysaur in the back of this very Pokecenter. She wondered if Nanie could hear her voice or if she was sleeping. She hoped Nanie was getting her rest, frankly. She did want Josh to meet her, since he hadn't seen her since she evolved. "She's here in the back, recovering, if you want to see her. She evolved since last you saw her!"

After they discussed the Pokédex, Indiana mentioned her Bulbasaur. He definitely remembered Nanie. He had a Bulbasaur of his on because he loved playing with hers. When she mentioned that Nanie had evolved, Joshua's eyebrows raised. He hadn't realize it had been that long since she'd seen Nanie. "Wow! Really? She's must be really strong!", he said enthusiastically as he nodded his head.
When she asked if they should go to see the Ivysaur, Joshua nodded with a little hesitant look. "Are we allowed back there?", he asked shyly. He knew she did volunteer work here but he wasn't sure if he was allow to access the back area. Maybe there was a room back there just for the Pokémon and their trainers? He shook the thought out of his mind as he waited for an answer from his sister.

Indiana grinned at his enthusiasm at seeing Nanie. She really believed that the first Pokemon that a child plays with has and impact on which Pokemon becomes their favorite. She nodded and said, "Stay here for a second, k?" She went in the back and made sure that Nanie was awake, so she wouldn't be interrupting her recovery. They were in luck! Nanie kinda hopped from one foot to the other in excitement at seeing Indiana. She took Nanie out of her inclosure and led her to an outdoor playpen for her to play with some other recovering Pokemon.
Indiana walked back out front where Josh was waiting and beckoned to him. She smiled back at him and led him to the playpen. As they entered, Indiana whistled for Nanie. The Ivysaur, who was just over 3' tall, sauntered over from her group of new friends, and reguarded Josh with a sniff. She had been away so long, and Josh had grown signifigantly. As recognition lit her eyes, she bounded in circles around Joshua, happy that her friend was back. Indiana's carefree laughter rang through the area as she watched her Nanie play with Joshua.

Joshua nodded slightly and watched as his older sister went to the back. He looked around the Pokécentre and noticed it was quite quiet. But it did look like everybody knew everbody else here. It was like that where he used to live, a very close community. That's probably why his family were so close to each other.
He grinned when Indiana returned then led him to the playpen where some of the recovering Pokémon were playing. He then spotted an Ivysaur, but didn't know if it was Nanie. When Indiana called to it, and it responded by investigating and jumping on him. "Nanie!", he exclaimed as he excitedly hugged the Ivysaur. He was so astonished that Nanie was Ivysaur now!

Indiana was grinning from ear to ear as Nanie bounced around, and eventually on, Josh. Nanie wagged her whole body as she looked from Josh to Indiana. "She's due to be released tomorrow. She's been injured since my last battle. She looks fit to leave though." Indiana reached down and scratched under Nanie's chin as Nanie grumbled in response, her back leg wiggled to the rhythm of the scratching.
"So how about we go see about that Pokedex?" She grinned down at Josh. "We can bring Nanie, as long as she's checked out before we leave the Center."

"Yeah, we should bring Nanie!", Joshua said as he embraced the Ivysaur. Nanie was a little hard to hug since Joshua was used to her being an Bulbasaur, but he still tried his best. He stood up straight and walked over to Indiana so that they could walk back to check out Nanie.
"Oh, she couldlve met my Bulbasaur", he said a little solemnly before a though popped into his head. "But she can meet my Squirtle and Charmander", Joshua said as he smiled once again and got excited to go back and get a Pokédex for his use.

Indiana nodded and turned to go to the front desk, with Nanie right behind her heels. When she filled out her papers, she thanked the receptionist on duty and turned to leave. "Well maybe when we get outside, you should let both of them out!" She grinned, thinking back to when she got Nanie as a Bulbasaur. It had been the best day of her life, getting a new companion like that.
"You know, it's not all that uncommon for trainers to keep their Pokemon out when they're around town." She glanced sideways at her brother as they started towards Professor Oak's lab. "I usually keep Nanie out, when she wants to be." As she smiled down at the Ivysaur, she could have sworn that Nanie smiled back. She couldn't fathom the kind of people who saw Pokemon as just animals to fight with. Monsters. "She always lets me know when she wants a rest, and it helps with her stamina, walking around so much." She gave Josh a knowing smile, figuring that he'd keep his Pokemon out as much as possible.

Joshua nodded at Indiana's advice and thought back to his favorite trainer of all time - Ash. He always kept his Pikachu out of his Pokéball. If you knew Ash, then you knew Pikachu. He wasn't sure if Ash let any of his other Pokémoan roam free like Pikachu. But he probably did let them out when they were out and about.
Joshua followed Indiana out of the Pokécenter and grabbed two Pokéballs from inside of his backpack. "Squirtle! Charmander! Come on out!", Joshua called as he threw both of them and they emerged from the Pokéballs. The two Pokémon nudged a little then smiled when they saw Joshua. "Hey guys!", he said chuckling and hugging them. "Alright, let's go get that Pokédex"", he said as he started on the trek back into Pallet Town.
